Inflating the Price of Justice – Hardly!
The editorial in the Australian Financial Review on 27 May 2015 “Why QCs inflate the price of justice” suggests that a labour cartel of advocates has rigged the market for legal services by inflating demand for senior members and that this is a racket and is done under false pretences. What nonsense. Senior members of the Bar, whether called QCs, SC’s or senior advocates, get briefed because they get results. No-one is obliged to brief senior counsel and good competent counsel exist in all jurisdictions.
